Course Description
The Postgraduate Institute of English invites applications for the above one-year postgraduate program from those who are involved in teaching content subjects through the English language (Bilingual Education (BE) / English Medium Instruction (EMI)). This is the only Bilingual Education postgraduate qualification available in Sri Lanka and has been tailor-made to suit the requirements of Bilingual Education in the Sri Lankan context. The Ministry of Education will sponsor the total course fee for 50 applicants serving in the public school system.

Eligibility for Admission:
A person seeking admission to the program leading to the award of the Postgraduate Diploma in Bilingual Education should have:
- A Bachelor’s degree at SLQF Level 5 or above from a recognized university OR
- A professional qualification equivalent to NVQ Level 07 obtained from an institute recognized by the University Grants Commission or the Ministry of Higher Education OR
- An equivalent or higher qualification acceptable to the Senate of the Open University of Sri Lanka
- AND
- Should currently be a BE teacher (or have access to a BE classroom set-up)
- AND
- Pass the selection process
